Stel je voor: een avontuur waarin jij de sleutelfiguur bent die bedrijven overtuigt om te investeren in de toekomst van onze vereniging. Een avontuur waarin je niet alleen geld binnenhaalt, maar ook waardevolle relaties opbouwt en de vereniging helpt bloeien. Welkom in de wereld van de mooiste functie van het bestuur, de crème de la crème, de commissaris extern. De rol die alles te maken heeft met het leggen van verbindingen, het binnenhalen van sponsorgeld en het onderhouden van waardevolle contacten. 

Als commissaris extern ben jij het gezicht van de vereniging naar de buitenwereld. Jij zorgt ervoor dat de financiële motor van onze vereniging blijft draaien. En we weten allemaal: zonder geld kunnen we de geweldige activiteiten, evenementen en borrels die onze vereniging zo bijzonder maken, niet financieren. Hoe komen we aan dat geld? De golddigger van de vereniging, oftewel jij, zorgt ervoor dat bedrijven hun portemonnee openen en investeren in de toekomst van onze leden. Jij overtuigt bedrijven van de kracht van de VCSVU, zodat wij met die financiële middelen verder kunnen groeien.

Wanneer je een bedrijf hebt geïdentificeerd dat potentie heeft om samen te werken, is de volgende stap het kiezen van de juiste benadering. Hier komt jouw persoonlijke aanpak om de hoek kijken. Bedrijven worden dagelijks benaderd door talloze commerciële partijen, dus jij hebt maar één kans om een goede indruk te maken. Of je nu een netwerk-evenement bezoekt, een mail stuurt of via andere kanalen contact legt, de sleutel is om goed te laten zien wat wij als vereniging te bieden hebben. Bedrijven willen namelijk weten hoe zij er zelf van profiteren, en dat is precies wat jij moet laten zien. Als bruggenbouwer zoek je de win-win situaties, die het voor zowel het bedrijf als de vereniging aantrekkelijk maken om samen te werken.

Als commissaris extern ben jij de verbindende factor tussen de bedrijven en onze vereniging. Jij zorgt ervoor dat de afspraken glashelder zijn, dat studenten met energie en interesse betrokken raken, en dat iedereen baat heeft bij de samenwerking. Maar je doet dit niet alleen: de ExCie, onze Excursiecommissie, staat aan jouw zijde om educatieve activiteiten te organiseren. Als commissaris extern wordt je ook de voorzitter van de ExCie, jij stuurt deze commissie dus aan. Samen leggen jullie de basis voor sterke banden tussen de vereniging en het werkveld. 

Naast externe verantwoordelijkheden, heb je ook andere dingen in je vizier. Zoals elk viertje zou zeggen: functie vier, commissaris bier. Ontspannen doe je met een drankje, en op geen andere manier. Een drankje kan ook gedronken worden tijdens een belangrijk gesprek, zo heb je toch een beetje plezier. Netwerken is een van de belangrijkste dingen die je leert, en dat doe je op jouw manier. Vier ben je in hart en nier. Nog een laatste keer: de belangrijkste functie is niet een bankier, niet een officier, niet een barbier, niet een cipier, niet de thesaurier, maar functie vier.

An adventure where you not only secure funding but also build valuable relationships and help the association thrive. Welcome to the world of the most exciting role on the board, the crème de la crème: the commissioner of external affairs. This is the role that revolves around forging connections, securing sponsorships, and maintaining valuable contacts.

As the commissioner of external affairs, you are the face of the association to the outside world. You ensure that the financial engine of our association keeps running. And we all know: without funding, we can’t finance the amazing activities, events, and socials that make our association so special. How do we secure this funding? The association’s gold digger—you—makes sure companies open their wallets and invest in the future of our members. You convince companies of the strength of VCSVU, enabling us to grow further with those financial resources.

Once you’ve identified a company with potential for collaboration, the next step is choosing the right approach. This is where your personal strategy comes into play. Companies are approached daily by countless commercial entities, so you have just one chance to make a good impression. Whether you attend a networking event, send an email, or connect through other channels, the key is to clearly showcase what our association has to offer. Companies want to know how they will benefit, and that’s precisely what you need to highlight. As a bridge-builder, you identify win-win situations that make collaboration attractive for both the company and the association.

As the commissioner of external affairs, you are the connecting link between companies and our association. You ensure that agreements are crystal clear, that students are engaged and enthusiastic, and that everyone benefits from the collaboration. But you don’t do this alone: the ExCie, our Excursion Committee, is by your side to organize educational activities. As commissioner of external affairs, you also chair the ExCie, guiding this committee in laying the foundation for strong ties between the association and the professional world.

Beyond external responsibilities, there’s another side to your role that’s worth noting. As any fourth functionary would say: "function four, commissioner of beer." Relaxing with a drink is simply part of the job. And sometimes that drink is shared during an important conversation, adding a touch of enjoyment to your networking. Networking is one of the most valuable skills you’ll learn, and you’ll master it in your own way. One last time: the most important role isn’t a banker, an officer, a barber, a warden, or the treasurer—it’s function four. (in dutch it rhymes)
